SYNOPSIS CV

Synopsis
Augusta Costa is a researcher with expertise in Forestry and Environmental Sciences at the INIAV, I.P. state laboratory (National Institute of Agrarian and Veterinary Research) and at the CENSE – NOVA/UL (Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research – NOVA/University of Lisbon). Her research focuses on the management of Mediterranean forest ecosystems, and specifically, on the conservation and resilience of evergreen cork oak woodlands and on understanding the ecological sustainability of non-timber forest products harvesting systems. She has most experience in both, field experiments and modeling studies in the Mediterranean Basin but without forgetting the global perspective. Her approaches on the links between natural resource management, resilience and conservation integrate multidisciplinary teams with complementary skills for a successful high impact collaborative research, and also directed to stakeholders. She has written more than 30 scientific papers and book chapters and participated in international research projects.
